Usher now full-time Garden Hills Elementary principal

AtlantaPublic Schools recently announced that Garden Hills Elementary School’s  “interim” principal Tommy Usher has beenofficially named the full-time principal.  Usher was appointed the permanent principal inJanuary.

Accordingto the announcement on the Garden Hills Elementary website, the school familyis "thrilled to have him as our permanent principal and look forward tocontinuing the great work he has started with the Garden Hills ElementarySchool teaching staff." 
"Itry to always exemplify a spirit that is caring, principled and open-minded. Ibelieve these IB attributes are the characteristics that allow us to be a partof a shared human experience and make connections that really matter,"wrote Usher.
Usherjoined Garden Hills in the summer of 2012. Before that he spent five years asprogram administrator for small learning communities at Sarah Smith Elementary.He grew up in Grant Park in Atlanta, attended Southside High School andobtained his undergraduate degree from Clark Atlanta. He holds a master’s incurriculum and instructional design from Central Michigan University and amasters in educational leadership from Georgia State University.
Healso was instructional specialist at Grove Park Elementary and has nearly adecade of experience teaching elementary school students.
GardenHills Elementary School serves the Buckhead neighborhoods of Garden Hills,Peachtree Park, Peachtree Heights and Lindridge/Martin Manor.
