According to Bucks on the Street co-chairs Donna Kain andElizabeth Gill, the event was cancelled after organizers received feedback thatothers wanted a different way to present the auction online that would be moreinclusive in terms of participants who could not attend the party.
"In place of the party, we will host an online auction ofthe Bucks on the Street,” Kain and Gill announced in a Facebook message lateWednesday, just a week before the planned party. “Not only is this a morecost-effective, sustainable option, but it also enables us to expand the reachof the program,” the message explained.
The online auction, the co-chairwomen wrote, will be a moreeffective way to "capitalize on the excitement that Bucks on the Streethas generated during the past six months, and will generate more funds forLivable Buckhead’s green space work."
Bucks on the Street is a community project meant to instill a sense of excitement and pride for those who live, work, and/or play in Buckhead, while contributing to programs designed to enhance the Buckhead area. The project was founded in 2010 by Gill and Kain, past-presidents of the Buckhead Business Association.
