The MARTA Board of Directors voted Monday not to raise the basepassenger fares from the $2.50 that was adopted last October, at least for thecoming fiscal year. MARTA raised the base fare from $2 to $2.50 late last year.
MARTA will also maintain the current level of most bus and railservices with the passage of the $435 million fiscal 2013 operating budget. Forthe fifth year in a row, the budget does not include any merit or wage raisesfor employees.
The board approved a capital funds budget of $230.4 million and$141.6 million for debt service. MARTA sales tax revenues are projected todecline further by $130 million through fiscal 2016.
