Atlantaeducator Angela Williamson on Saturday became the first teacher to prevail in aseries of disciplinary tribunals held as a result of a widespread cheatinginvestigation, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Now Williamson, formerly of Dobbs Elementary School, awaits a decision from the Atlanta schoolboard on the status of her employment. The board can follow thesuperintendent's recommendation to terminate her or vote to reinstate her.
AtlantaPublic Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis has said previously any educator exoneratedduring a tribunal would be reinstated, the AJC reported.
Accordingto a state investigation, in 2008 and 2009 Williamson was accused of promptingstudents during the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests to change theiranswers from wrong to right by coughing, frowning and telling them to "goback over your answers."
Williamson and herattorney claimed that telling students to “go back over your answers” wasnormal procedure and not helping them cheat on the exam.
