Suspects arrested in Buckhead robberies using baby

Brandon NicholasLawson, the man accused of bringing a woman and baby along during two recent armedrobberies in Buckhead was arrested Thursday night in Macon, according to Atlantapolice. Friday afternoon, the woman Joi Monai Jenkins surrendered to Atlanta Police.

Lawson, 21, wasarrested and booked into the Bibb County jail and is expected to be returned toAtlanta to face charges, APD officer John Chafee reported. The Atlanta man was arrestedby Bibb County police for allegedly stealing a vehicle and giving a false name,according to jail records.
Atlanta police hadalready issued a warrant for Lawson’s arrest earlier this week. The APD onTuesday released photos and surveillance footage showing a couple, with a baby,suspected in the Buckhead crimes. Tips from the public identified Lawson,Chafee said.
Police said both Lawson and Jenkins, 18, will be charged with armed robbery in the cases. Jenkins was in custody and being questioned by police on Friday.

A 60-year-old man wasrobbed while walking home from the Publix across from Phipps Plaza on Saturdaynight. Moments after the man saw a woman with a stroller and a crying baby, amale suspect held a gun to his head and demanded his money and credit cards,according to the police report. The victim gave the suspect his wallet and hisATM card’s PIN number.
The next afternoon, a68-year-old man on Oak Valley Road reported a similar incident, police said. Ashe and a friend were walking home from the grocery store, an armed manthreatened to kill them if they didn’t turn over their wallets, the police reportsaid.
