The big question on theminds of everyone who drives Peachtree Road through the heart of Buckhead’scentral business and shopping area is: When is this roadwork going to befinished?
Brian McHugh

The good news is thatthe work is in the home stretch, according to project manager Brian McHugh ofthe Buckhead Community Improvement District (CID).
He told the CID boardthis week the road construction project should be done by Thanksgiving—“except fora punch list of some final items.”  Basedon that, the CID wants to plan a ceremony around that time to celebrate theconcluding of work on Peachtree Boulevard Phase 2.
McHugh told BuckheadViewThursday, “September has really been a good month in terms of getting work done”on various aspects of the seemingly endless project. He added. “You can see alot of activity going on and a lot of workers on the job right now.”

Trees  were placed along Peachtree in front of LenoxSquare on Tuesday night. The sidewalk in front of the Ritz-Carlton will “go instarting the end of this week,” McHugh told the CID board, and lighting will becompleted by mid-October.
CID board member RobinSuggs, who is general manager of Simon Property Group that owns Lenox Squareand Phipps Plaza in the midst of the construction work, might have been a tadnervous during the discussion of some lingering items on a punch list asThanksgiving and the holiday shopping season nears.
But McHugh assured theboard the items that will remain on the punch list to be completed in Novemberwill be small things, although some of the plantings will not be done until thefall season in November.

Board members Robin Loudermilk and John Lundeen both expressed someconcern about the lack of progress in planning the traffic and streetscape improvementsto Peachtree Road south of Maple Drive and down past the Buckhead Atlanta siteto Pharr Road.
McHugh and CID Executive Director Jim Durrett assured the board that thestudies are progressing on what to do in that area of Peachtree Road and thatupdates should be forthcoming shortly.
Regarding improvements to the Piedmont/Habersham roads intersection,McHugh requested $3,300 in CID funds to hire a consultant to give an initial“certified appraiser to do estimates to submit to GDOT to start on aright-of-way acquisition.” The request was unanimously approve.
