New North Atlanta High principal comes from Gwinnett

GwinnettCounty’s current Lilburn Middle School principal, Howard E. (Gene) Taylor, isexpected to take over as principal of North Atlanta High School in November,following a vote by the Atlanta Board of Education on Monday.

HowardE. (Gene) Taylor is currently the principal at Lilburn Middle School and isexpected to take over for current North Atlanta principal Mark MyGrant inNovember.
Beforebecoming principal of Lilburn Middle School, Taylor was the principal at CrewsMiddle School from 2006 to 2008 and the assistant principal for instruction atNorth Gwinnett High School from 2003 to 2006.
He hasalso taught high school World History and US Government and served as chair ofboth departments. He was an assistant professor in the College of Education atGeorgia State University from 1998 to 2000.
“Webelieve we have selected the leaders to lead us forward,” Superintendent ErrollDavis said after introducing the candidates.
District4 Board of Education Member Nancy Meister has said the North Atlanta High communitywill soon have the chance to meet Taylor.
Taylorwill replace Mark MyGrant, who returned to be interim principal of North  Atlanta High at the beginning of this yearafter having resigned at the end of last year. He agreed to return during thesearch for a permanent principal at the Buckhead school.
