Countyspokesman Burke Brennan said Watson was driving on a suspended license. Typically, such an infraction warrants an immediate arrest if there is no alternateeligible driver in the car, according to authorities. But Watson remained free, county officials said.
In a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Watson said he didn’t realize his license had been suspended and has since paid the citation “associated with this matter.”
“Thepolice department will be looking into the circumstances as to why someone whohas a suspended driver’s license in the system was allowed to drive away,”Brennan told the AJC.
Currently,no arrest warrant is pending, Brennan said.
As Post2 at-large councilman, Watson represents all of Buckhead, along with CityCouncil members Yolanda Adrean, Howard Shook, Felicia Moore and Alex Wan, whorepresents districts that include parts of Buckhead.
